Obituary of Wanda Gertrude Taliaferro

Wanda left us to be in a better place on May 9, 2007 at the age of 60. She was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Alexander Lesnikow and Wilhelmine Gass. Wanda was raised by her mother with her other siblings. Wanda completed her education and some college in Germany. Wanda was married to Egon Kister and had 2 loving children Frank Kister and Claudia Kister. While living in Germany Wanda was taught how to cook by her mother whom was a chef. With the knowledge she learned from her mother, Wanda became a chef. Many years later Wanda and her 2 children moved to the United States on May 14th, 1973 to Detroit, Michigan. Wanda soon after moved to Lakewood, Washington where she found employment as a nurse's assistant. On February 15, 1979 in Tacoma, Washington Wanda met the love of her life Sp4 Girard Taliaferro. After a few years of dating they married on May 27, 1983. Wanda then became a housewife. On June 20, 1980, Wanda had one of the happiest moments in her life; she became a United States Citizen. Wanda loved to travel and now that she was a military wife, she toured around the world, visiting Germany, Korea and all over the United States. Wanda was an avid folk artist that loved to go shopping. Wanda loved her family dearly. She would always try to stress the importance of finances and making sure that you always have your paperwork in order when needed. Wanda is survived by her loving husband Girard D. Taliaferro of Lakewood, WA- son Frank Kister (Julia) of Tacoma, WA - daughter Claudia Kister of Mannheim Germany- sister Deborah Schliesinger of Lakewood,WA and 5 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Wanda's Memorial Service will be Friday, May 18, 2007 at 1:30PM at The Cloister Chapel - Calvary Cemetery Tacoma, Washington. The Officiating Priest will be Fr. John Wilkie. Arrangements by Oakwood Hill Funeral Chapel & Cemetery.
