Obituary of Richard L. Flink

Richard L. Flink, 76, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Thursday, May 10th at his home in Gig Harbor. Born in Tacoma, WA on February 20th, 1931. He graduated from Bellarmine Prep, Class of 49. He joined the Tacoma Police Department in 1957 as a street patrol officer and later became a motorcycle patrolman. After his retirement from there, he worked for Titus-Will Ford, the Washington State Senate and for the Peninsula School District, driving a school bus. He enjoyed boating, becoming commodore of T.O.A.'s Boating Club, traveling in his motorhome to Canada and in the States. He always looked forward to his monthly lunches with other retired Tacoma Police Officers. Preceded in death by his wife Doris, brother Frank and parents Lee and Katie Flink. Survived by his daughter Ginnie (Lyle) Cundy, sons Larry and John Flink, grandchildren Mike Rickert, Janie Rickert and Austin Flink, two great-grandchildren Katie and Tyler Rickert and his brother Ken Flink and sister Cathie Ferguson. Visitation will be held Tuesday May 15th, 2007 from 3:00 - 7:00PM at Piper-Morley-Mellinger Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Gig Harbor on Wednesday May 16th, 2007 at 10:00AM. Arrangements by Piper-Morley-Mellinger Funeral Home 253-472-3353.
