Life Story for Leona Mace
Leona “Anna” Mace, of Tacoma, went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 26th, 2017. Born August 05, 1936 in Naples, Italy, Anna immigrated to America, where she resided for the last 50 years. Anna is a Pacific Lutheran University graduate, putting her degree (BS) to use as a social worker for Washington State, although she always felt as if her job as a mother (momma) and grandmother (Nona) was of primary importance. She loved being a mother. She loved exposing her children to the arts, instilling respect for authority, encouraging independence and hard work, modeling generosity, and had mastered the art of “stretching a buck” to provide for her children. Although she was a woman of little means for most of her life, she gave generously, trusting in the Lord to provide for her family’s needs, which He always did. If complImented, she would give you the shirt off her back, the earrings out of her lobes, the coat she was wearing, or even a piece of furniture from her humble home. She stressed the importance of family over possessions.
We miss her love for her family, for people, and her trust in the Lord during challenging circumstances. Anna is survived by her three children, and four grandchildren.
